Tidbit: Celebrating Z-z-z at The Benjamin

Why is the front desk manager at The Benjamin wearing a nightcap and terrycloth bathrobe?

He’s observing National Sleep Awareness Week, a yearly educational campaign promoting the importance of sleep. The week culminates in the worst day of the year, Sunday March 11, when Daylight Savings Time begins and we spring forward, losing a precious hour of shut-eye. (more…)

Holidays: All about Pumpkins

Holidays,Tidbit: | tags: hotels, Jumeirah Essex House, New York Hilton, pumpkins, Thanksgiving | November 24, 2011

Pumpkins at the Jumeirah Essex House Hotel.

The official bloom of Thanksgiving? The pumpkin, of course. So in honor of this noble gourd, equally agreeable embellishing a tabletop, a soup or a pie, we bring you Overnight New York’s pumpkin fast facts and show how two hotels, the Jumeirah Essex House and New York Hilton, displayed the big orange guys this year.

Wine -- real or virtual?

Can you tweet a wine tasting?

A trio of top sommeliers from Four Seasons hotels aims to find out on November 17.  That night, at 7 pm New York time, anyone anywhere can log onto Twitter, search for hashtag #FSWine, raise a glass (crystal or virtual) and join the online discussion that ensues in what’s billed as the first ever online wine tasting at Four Seasons.

The idea is to sample and discuss wines that will go well with holiday foods.  Two reds and a white made the cut. Participants are encouraged to purchase them locally, sniff, swirl and sip along with the pros, and join the twitter. (more…)

Tidbit: Taking Credit at Hyatt

Tidbit: | tags: credit card, hotel, Hyatt | September 8, 2010

We find it really hard to get excited about a new banking product, even when there’s a hotel connection. But we can see the appeal of a new credit card that made its debut yesterday.

Use the Hyatt Chase Visa card just once, and you get two free nights at any Hyatt property in the world, including New York outposts like the shiny new Andaz hotels on Wall Street and Fifth Avenue. (more…)
